Such a well known and loved Aussie bird, the Black Cockatoo, this painting is of a Male Red-tail Black cockatoo, which is probably the most popular of the cockatoos.
Listed as vulnerable, these intelligent birds have a special meaning to so many, especially in the Australia's First Nations Peoples.
They measure up to 60 cm in length and their diet consists mainly of seeds and seed pods of eucalyptus, banksia and casuarina trees.
