This NEW painting is a portrait of a adult female Red-tail Black Cockatoo.

Such a well known and loved Aussie bird, the Black Cockatoo, this painting is of a female Red-tail Black cockatoo, which is probably the most popular of the cockatoos.

The small yellow heart-shaped feathers that appear on the tip of many of her black feathers are her distinguishing feature.

Listed as vulnerable these intelligent birds, they have a special meaning to so many, especially in the Australia's First Nations Peoples.

They measure up to 60 cm in length and their diet consists mainly of seeds and seed pods of eucalypt, banksi and casuarina trees.
