This NEW painting is a portrait of a adult Male Superb fairy wren Up-close.

Part of the Australasian wren family, widespread across the South Eastern Australia.

Eating mostly insects and supplementing their diet with some seeds and berries.

They measure up to 14cm with the breeding males displaying vibrant blue plumage with black and grey. Females are a light brown and white.

Definitely another favourite bird of mine and one I just love to paint.

This painting is very close-up and highly detailed, which is what I'm partial to,  focusing on the tiny details when I paint.

I have them living in the hedge just outside my studio and have the pleasure of seeing almost every day.
